About Bird

BeFunky Photo

Call me Bird.

Thank you for checking out my website. I started Everyone Has A Story almost nine years ago right before my marriage of 20+ years fell completely apart. It was some hellish couple of years, but surprisingly, I managed to live to talk about it. Actually, thanks to Ambien, vodka, and a hazy month of Benadryl martini’s, I pretty much talked/blogged my way through every sordid moment of it. Embarrassing for me, but some great entertainment for everyone else.

I’m now a single, 50-something woman, living in Austin, Texas with my son, William. Besides my writing career, I am presently a branch manager for a staffing agency.

My daughter, Rebekkah, married and moved to China, where she has two children now – Ian and Yili – and is a teacher. William is dealing with a chronic illness, but works for a pet care place and attends rock hound events. Caitlyn got divorced, but is presently engaged to get married again, and is an IT person living in Montana.

Life went on. It feels good to sometimes look over your shoulder and see just how far you’ve come, and how different life feels these days.

  2. Hey bird,

I found your blog today and am so glad I did. I married a man I met in AA when I was 19 years old. I fled in fear about 9 months later when he (not acting himself, but then what else was new lately) threw our 3 day old baby up into the air and caught her. It would be several years later that I would find out that I lost my husband to Meth not schizophrenia. I was convinced that I had witnessed the quick mental decline of a schizophrenic adult. Later a friend would reach out to me via social media and tell me the story of what happened to my ex husband after I left. He was using Meth while we were together and that downward spiral is a story all in itself. Over the years, I have managed to keep a distant, anonymous eye on his Facebook page. Between that and mugshots.com I am able to keep track of the man who used to love me more than life itself, but who became the man who said he would kill me, and our daughter. He said he had bullets with our names on them.

    • I hope you don’t mind, but I added this comment to Postcards from Hell. Thank you for sharing your little slice of hell with us. It helps to know we aren’t living through something no one else can understand.

  4. It is true that everyone has a story to tell. Time is the best healer of all and acceptance. I write about this in my books also. I find that faith in God heals the wounds in ways we couldn’t imagine. Good that I ran across you and your blog. Nice to meet you.
